Zaigo's Digital Revolution in Waste Management

Zaigo Infotech transformed waste management with a unified, digital supply chain solution, bringing traceability, transparency, and sustainable practices to multiple regions.

About The Client

Our customer is a resource recovery company striving to accomplish a sustainable future with a vision "to see a world where no resources are wasted, by pursuing and promoting ethical circularity." Our client understands that preventing resources from entering landfills and oceans is the key to efficient resource management. So, they decided to direct them straight into the economy of recycling.

Project Background

India is the fifth-largest producer of plastic garbage in the world. India produces around 1 lakh metric tonnes of solid waste every day, amounting to 62 million metric tonnes per year.

The founders of the company aimed to disrupt the recycling sector if they could construct a traceable and transparent supply chain and an efficient waste management infrastructure to help brands meet EPR (Extended producer responsibility) compliance while also addressing their SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Goal

To build an application that digitizes the complete lifecycle of the waste management supply chain and empowers all entities to collaborate effectively.

Challenges

Our client is active across over 3 Union Territories, 20 states, and 102 cities, towns, and villages, with a lifetime resource recovery count of 25,904+ metric tons as of March 2022. Our client didn't have a unified digital solution in place to streamline operations, thus leading to a time-consuming and resource-intensive workflow. The primary challenge is to partner with informal waste collectors and processors to enable traceability and transparency in an informal and fragmented industry, creating a traceable supply chain featuring real-time supply chain data.
